ACA Can Help
Many people find peer support and support groups a helpful tool that can aid in their recovery. The Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families offers support groups for individuals who grew up in alcoholic or dysfunctional homes.
In an effort to carry the message around the world, we are reaching out to those who work with adult children professionally. Adult Children of Alcoholics / Dysfunctional Families (ACA or ACoA), is as an international 12 Step recovery program for individuals who grew up in alcoholic or dysfunctional homes. ACA is based on the belief that the disease of alcoholism and family dysfunction infected us as children and continues to affect us as adults.
ACA support groups are offered as a space where individuals can come together to share their stories, experiences, and lives in a way that helps reduce isolation and loneliness. Oftentimes, we think we are struggling alone, but the ACA support groups help us see that there are others who may dealing with similar situations and who in turn can help us get better.
